Saudi Arabia Bans Transferring, Publishing Security Surveillance Camera Recordings
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry emphasized that the provisions of the “Use of Security Surveillance Cameras” law stipulates that the transfer or publication of security surveillance camera recordings is firmly prohibited.
The ministry noted that the only way to publish or transfer these camera recordings is to obtain the approval of the ministry or the Presidency of State Security. Moreover, it should be based on a judicial order, or at the request of an investigating authority, Arab News reported.
Accordingly, those who violate this law shall be punished with a fine of SR20,000 ($5,327).
In addition, the rule includes those who transfer or publish recordings in violation of the law or damages or vandalize security surveillance camera systems or recordings.
