Saudi Arabia bans Christmas tree imports
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced today, Saturday, that “the import of the Christmas tree is not allowed.”
The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority said, in a press statement today, that “it is not allowed to import the Christmas tree, or any other signs belonging to religions other than Islam.”
The authority’s statement came via its Twitter account, in response to a query from a (Saudi) citizen in this regard.
Foreign media said last year that it had monitored Christmas celebrations on the streets of Saudi Arabia, for the first time in the kingdom’s history.
