Roshn, Partanna Sign Sustainable Construction Agreement
Pioneering Carbon-Negative Concrete
The Roshn Group, a leading Saudi Arabian real estate developer, has recently entered into a significant agreement with Partanna, a company specializing in environmental sustainability.
This collaboration marks a strategic move in the construction industry, focusing on the use of carbon-negative building materials.
Pioneering Carbon-Negative Concrete
Partanna is renowned for pioneering the world’s first carbon-negative concrete, a revolutionary technology that not only avoids carbon emissions but also actively removes them from the atmosphere. This material is as durable, versatile, and scalable as traditional cement, but with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly.
Implementing Pilot Project
The agreement involves a pilot project where 11,000 paving slabs made of Partanna’s carbon-negative concrete will be installed at the Roshn Group’s landscape nursery. This nursery is the largest in the region, spanning one million square meters.
The plan includes the cultivation of more than 30 million plants by 2030 to coordinate the views of the Red Sea and Amala destinations.
Sustainability, Regeneration Commitment
This partnership is in line with the Roshn Group’s commitment to sustainability and environmental regeneration. They aim to increase the net conservation benefit at their destinations by 30 percent and achieve carbon neutrality when fully operational.
The use of carbon-negative concrete aligns with these goals and sets a precedent for future sustainable construction practices.
MoU, Future Projects
The collaboration between Roshn Group and Partanna was solidified with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at COP27 in Egypt. This MoU also outlines the potential for future pilot projects, including the use of Partanna’s ocean-resilient concrete for coral reef restoration projects, an initiative reflecting the growing importance of sustainable practices in the construction industry and environmental stewardship.
Revolutionizing Construction Industry
This initiative demonstrates a significant shift in the construction industry, prioritizing environmental sustainability without compromising on quality or scalability. The use of carbon-negative showcases innovative solutions that will adopt on a global scale, especially in the Middle East.
Towards a Sustainable Future
In summary, the agreement between the Roshn Group and Partanna represents a landmark step towards sustainable and environmentally responsible construction. It aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and preserve natural ecosystems.
