Riyadh Governor inaugurates the Sixth International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation

Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – HRH Prince Faisal Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, inaugurated the Sixth International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation.

The conference is taking place from 4 to 6 December, at Al-Faisal University in Riyadh, with the participation of local, Arab, and 27 countries from different regions of the world.

HRH Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Conference, stated that the King Salman Center for Disability Research had presented achievements in the issues of disability, especially the issue of scientific research, referring to the achievements made by the state within the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

His Highness indicated that the next five years will be a fresh start built on the previous five conferences. H.E. drew attention to the future recommendations of the conference on advancing scientific research and finding solutions through pioneering research.

His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Chairman of the King Salman International Award for Disability Research, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, explained that the Award completed its third session successfully at the local, regional, and global levels.

The success of the Award is reflected in the scientific nominations received by the General Secretariat of the Award from various countries of the world. The number of scientific nominations reached 370 nominations from 46 countries.

He indicated that during the third session, the Award witnessed the addition of two branches to become 5 branches, which are (medical health sciences, rehabilitation, and social sciences, educational and psychological sciences, technical applications in the field of disability, and universal access).

Each award includes a certificate bearing the name of the winner or winners, a summary of the work that qualified him or her for the award, an appreciation medal, and a sum of money (500,000 riyals).

His Excellency Dr. Al-Rabiah indicated that the award’s arbitration and selection committees held a series of 16 sessions, and two sessions for the award committee.

The third session of the King Salman Award for Disability Research approved the names of the male and female winners who presented the best-distinguished work. This was according to the opinion of each committee.

After that, the winners of the King Salman Award for Disability Research were announced, memorial photos were taken, and His Highness the Governor of Riyadh honored supporters and sponsors.
