Ramadan 2025: Saudi Arabia Issues New Rules for Iftar at Prophet’s Mosque

Saudi Arabia announced that Iftar Providers at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina will add two items to the basic menu of food during Ramadan, Gulf News reported.

There are several basic items in the sunset meal such as dates, bread, yogurt, wrapped tissues as well as water.

Currently, the General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques stated the additional food items should involve nuts, cupcakes, a pie, maamoul (a filled cookie), cream or stuffed dates.

Therefore, the agency has asked the service providers to add the additional items and update their data as a necessary step for them to be able to continue their business and sign contracts with accredited catering companies.

Moreover, such companies must obtain a permit in order to be able to sign contracts and provide meals.

As for catering firms, they are required to contact a coordinator in the Prophet’s Mosque to agree on the process of transporting Iftar meals to the dedicated fast-ending location.

Furthermore, the companies should be located in Medina and registered as catering contractors for Hajj and Umrah.

They should also have an area within their affiliated facilities not less than 600 square meters, and designated sites for packing and packaging. In addition, they should own at least three licensed well-equipped vehicles for transporting refrigerated meals.

Other requirements include a certificate of quality, experience in the field of catering, well-experienced personnel, as well as evidence that its record does not have any violations over the past two years.
