Prince Sultan International Water Prize Opens 11th Cycle Nominations

The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water has announced the opening of nominations for its eleventh session until the end of December 2023.

The prize targets scientists and specialists in the field of water both in the Kingdom and around the world.

Details by General Secretary

The General Secretary of the Prize, Dr. Abdulmalik bin Abdulrahman Al Sheikh, who also oversees the Prince Sultan Institute for Environmental, Water, and Desert Research at King Saud University.

He explained that this international scientific award aligns with the goals of the Global Water Organization Initiative, founded by His Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect him.

Focus of Prize

He stated that the prize aims to promote innovation and creative research by honoring those tackling global water scarcity and conservation.

Furthermore, to fulfill its objectives, the prize offers five awards biennially. Firstly, one million Riyals for the Innovation Prize and secondly, five hundred thousand Riyals for each of four awards in distinct areas: surface water, groundwater, alternative water resources, and, finally, water resource management.

Impact International Water Prize

It is noted that since its inception over twenty years ago. The prize has contributed to a qualitative development in the level of work submitted for nominations increase in the number of candidates and the geographical expansion of their countries.

For the tenth session, there were 334 scientists from 66 countries around the world.
