As technology continues to reshape the future, Saudi Arabia is opening new avenues for its young minds to turn curiosity into innovation.
The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) has opened registration for young people aged 8 to 22 across the Kingdom to take part in the 2026 World Robot Olympiad (WRO), inviting them to delve into the world of robotics and compete on an international platform.
Registration is available through Mawhiba’s official website at the following link: https://s.mawhiba.sa/ROB.
The Race to the International Stage
The journey to the global robotics stage unfolds through a carefully structured three-stage competition across Saudi Arabia.
After completing the initial registration and preliminary qualification, successful teams move forward to regional qualifiers held across the Kingdom’s provinces.
From there, the top performers will secure their place in the national championship, where they will compete for the opportunity to represent Saudi Arabia internationally.
Ultimately, the top national teams will head to Puerto Rico, where they will compete with qualifying teams from around 100 countries.
How Is Mawhiba Building Future Robotics Talent?
Remarkably, Mawhiba is accelerating the competition’s development pathway through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Asr Robotics Company.
Together, the partners oversee registration and regional rounds while expanding practical education programs that sharpen the technical abilities of the emerging innovators to meet international technical standards.
With the aim of bringing promising robotics talent from every corner of Saudi Arabia into the competition, Mawhiba has urged eligible youth to register through its official portal.
The foundation has also called on parents, schools, and educators to encourage students with an interest in robotics, software development, and technical fields to seize the opportunity.
Coding a New Future for Heritage
This year’s competition takes on an outstanding dimension under the theme “Robotics and Culture,” discussing cutting-edge technology and its intersection with cultural heritage.
Through a diverse lineup of challenges, participants will design and deploy robotics and artificial intelligence systems aimed at preserving, restoring, and digitizing cultural assets.
The challenges, therefore, invite teams to reconsider how audiences experience and interact with art and historical treasures.
In this way, participants will have an exclusive opportunity to sharpen their skills in engineering design, coding, and collaborative problem-solving while gaining hands-on experience with smart technologies in a competitive environment.
