Iran has once again expressed its positive optimism about the effects of the agreement concluded with Saudi Arabia a few days ago in Beijing, in order to resume relations between the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani considered on Monday that the “positive” atmosphere of relations between his country and Saudi Arabia will be a reason for resolving the crisis in Yemen.
Positive Results
He said in a press conference that the Saudi-Iranian agreement “will have positive results on enhancing joint cooperation in the region.”
He also considered that it could “positively affect Tehran’s relations with the rest of the region.”
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, had made it clear that “the agreement to restore diplomatic relations does not mean resolving all the differences between the two parties, but it confirms the common desire of the two sides to resolve the differences through dialogue.”
He also revealed that the two sides are preparing to resume diplomatic relations during the next two months, considering that it is normal for the future to exchange visits.
Several Rounds of talks
He also indicated that this agreement, which took place last Friday, under the auspices and mediation of China, came after several rounds of talks over the past two years in both Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman.
It is noteworthy that, following the agreement that was held last week in Beijing, a tripartite statement was issued by the three countries that included the items stipulated therein, including an emphasis on the sovereignty of each country and non-interference in internal affairs, in addition to arranging the exchange of ambassadors, as well as activating the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth signed in 1998.
