Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni started an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Upon Meloni’s arrival in Jeddah, the Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz and other senior officials warmly welcomed the Italian PM and her delegation.
The visit follows a promising agreement signed by Saudi Arabia and Italy earlier this month to enhance energy cooperation.
On January 14, Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman held a meeting with Italian Minister of Energy and Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratinon to sign the memorandum of understanding.
Crucially, the deal highlights a possible supply to Europe of green hydrogen made in the Kingdom.
