Monitoring advertorial content is a “Necessity” to protect consumers: Al-Jawhara Al-Otaishan

Ms. Al-Jawhara Al-Otaishan; Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sawahel Al-Jazeera Media Company, confirmed the importance of focusing on the content of companies in the field of advertising more than quantity.

 

Al-Otaishan was hosted in the “Mo’sha’rat” program, which is broadcast on “Alif Alif FM” radio.

 

 

Al-Otaishan said that monitoring the content of companies in the field of advertising, promotion, and relations, is an urgent need to protect consumers and achieve comprehensive quality in the products of these companies.

 

Al-Otaishan indicated that today’s world, as a result of technological and technical progress, has witnessed the availability of massive and unlimited content in all fields, whether by the way this content is made or created.

 

She added that the content makers seek to provide the integrated benefit to the audience, but the question remains whether the quantity value here is better than its qualitative value.

 

In addition, Al-Otaishan pointed out that there are many different challenges facing content creators.

 

She explained: “The ways of presentation are open between the two parties, the sender and the recipient, without the presence of a gatekeeper, and this may lead to cultural and social problems that may reach the stage of cultural alienation.”

 

Al-Otaishan touched on other problems that openness could cause, such as benefiting from some of the content of the weapons industry and its use, and the problems it could cause in some societies.
