MoH Initiates Campaign for Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations

The Saudi Ministry of Health (MoH) has called on citizens and expatriates to get the seasonal influenza vaccine. Vaccination appointments can be booked through the ‘Seasonal Influenza Vaccine’ service on the Sehhaty app.

Primary healthcare centers across Saudi Arabia are providing flu vaccination services for those who schedule appointments via the Sehhaty app. The ministry emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated annually due to the virus’s continuous mutations.

Vaccination Campaign Across the Kingdom

The ministry highlighted the groups most vulnerable to flu complications. These include individuals with chronic diseases, those over 50, young children aged between six months and five years, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and people with weakened immune systems or severe obesity.

Proven Effectiveness of the Vaccine

The Ministry of Health stressed that the flu vaccine is safe and effective, particularly for at-risk groups. It significantly reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, ICU admissions, and flu-related deaths. The vaccine plays a critical role in protecting not only individuals but also their family members.

Alongside vaccination, the ministry urged people to follow preventive measures. These include regular handwashing, avoiding direct contact with the face, using tissues when sneezing or coughing, and keeping living spaces clean. These actions help limit the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable groups from serious complications.

Boosting Immunity and Reducing Hospitalizations

The ministry continues to focus on raising vaccination rates, reducing the spread of the flu, and lowering hospitalization rates. Special attention is given to the elderly to help boost their immunity and minimize the risk of severe infections during the flu season.

Saudi Arabia’s ongoing flu vaccination campaign underlines the nation’s commitment to public health and the wellbeing of its citizens and residents.
