Ports operated by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) recorded a 0.21% rise in overall cargo throughput—including general cargo, dry bulk, and liquid bulk—during November 2025. Total volumes reached 17,825,988 tons, up from 17,788,247 tons in November 2024. This included 1,193,795 tons of general cargo, 4,021,286 tons of dry bulk, and 12,610,907 tons of liquid bulk.
Total container handling saw a 2.97% decline, dropping to 649,286 TEUs from 669,174 TEUs last year. Despite this, transshipment activity surged by 8.22%, climbing to 162,252 TEUs compared to 149,927 TEUs in 2024.
Imported containers fell by 6.83% to 241,494 TEUs, while exported containers decreased by 5.58%, settling at 245,540 TEUs.
Maritime traffic showed strong momentum, rising 6.81% to 1,020 vessels, up from 955 a year earlier. Passenger numbers experienced a remarkable 70.01% jump, reaching 112,927, while vehicle volumes declined by 22.68% to 77,134 units. Saudi ports also received 722,140 livestock, a 0.78% increase over last year’s 716,541.
These indicators highlight growing economic activity, strengthened maritime-linked industries, enhanced supply chain capabilities, and improved tourism and marine services. They also reinforce the Kingdom’s food security efforts and align with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics powerhouse.
In October 2025, Mawani-supervised ports achieved a 12.19% increase in total handled containers, reaching 709,393 TEUs, compared to 632,323 TEUs during the same month in 2024.
