Since its establishment, Saudi Arabia has been keen on servicing and protecting the security of millions pilgrims and visitors inside and outside the Kingdom. It has harnessed its human, material and technical capabilities to help them perform Hajj and Umrah easily and comfortably .
On the 25th of April 2016, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud launched the Saudi Vision 2030, which made it one of its goals to serve more pilgrims and provide them with high-quality services.
Makkah Route Initiative
In 2017, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced launching the Makkah Route Initiative as part of the Program for Serving pilgrims. It is one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030 to provide high-quality services to pilgrims, by completing their procedures at their home countries easily and smoothly.
The Ministry of Interior continued to implement the Makkah Route Initiative in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023 to serve the beneficiaries of the initiative in their countries and facilitate their entry to the Kingdom. It cooperated with partner agencies to serve the pilgrims starting from leaving their countries and until they arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport.
In the current year, 2024, the Saudi Ministry of Interior and its partners from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Information, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence, and the General Directorate of Passports, continue to implement Makkah Route Initiative and provide its services to pilgrims, including issuing Hajj visas, and coding their luggage electronically.
In the Kingdom, the Makkah Route Initiative has allocated a work system of partners and volunteers to welcome pilgrims coming from the beneficiary countries and allocate paths for them. Through the system, special buses are offered to transport pilgrims and their luggage to their residences in Makkah and Medina.
