The annual Madinah Date Season is a vibrant celebration of Saudi Arabia’s rich date industry. This season showcases the expertise of local farmers and highlights the economic significance of the date industry.
Over the past three months, Madinah has produced more than 50 million kg of dates, contributing over $149 million to the Saudi economy. With its theme “From Madinah to the World,” the event aims to promote the diverse varieties of dates and educate visitors about the importance of this sector.
Cultural Exhibitions and Delightful Offerings
One of the highlights of the Madinah Date Season is the five cultural exhibitions hosted in central hotels and major malls. These exhibitions provide visitors the opportunity to experience Saudi coffee and sample popular regional dates.
Alongside these delightful offerings, detailed descriptions of different date varieties are provided, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the fruit’s diversity.
Agricultural Workshops: Empowering Farmers
Moreover, the Madinah Date Season offers agricultural workshops to empower farmers. These workshops focus on educating attendees about effective pest control methods and modern irrigation techniques.
By providing farmers with agricultural guidance, the season aims to enhance farming practices and promote sustainable agriculture in the region.
Supporting Farmers and Agricultural Programs
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s regional branch plays a pivotal role in supporting date production during the Madinah Date Season. A tent for agricultural services is set up near the main date market auction, offering farmers agricultural guidance, employment support, agricultural licenses, and records.
The tent also highlights the Agricultural Development Fund’s support programs for farmers, helping them navigate the application process.
Furthermore, it showcases the popular organic agriculture program and the Saudi Good Agriculture Practices Program, providing valuable information to farmers and visitors.
