
Kuwait announced the activation of its emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport after Terminal 1 (T1) was reportedly targeted by drones and missiles from what it described as Iranian aggression. The attack resulted in significant damage to several airport facilities, as well as human casualties and injuries.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, according to the Kuwait News Agency, stated that the armed forces are monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities and remain on high alert to deal with any developments and take all necessary measures to preserve the country’s security and stability.
For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation explained that the competent authorities immediately began handling the incident in accordance with approved procedures and contingency plans to ensure the safety of employees and travelers and to secure airport facilities. It added that all flights have been suspended and redirected to alternative airports until further notice, pending the completion of the necessary security and technical measures and confirmation that the airport is ready to resume operations.
