KSrelief, UN Conduct Talks on Global Humanitarian Aid in Riyadh

The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSrelief) and the United Nations (UN) recently held a meeting in Riyadh to discuss global humanitarian aid. The meeting aimed to address regional and global humanitarian challenges and explore ways to enhance cooperation and support for those in need. During the meeting, representatives from KSrelief and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs conducted talks on various issues related to humanitarian financing, resource mobilization, and the voluntary return of Somali refugees. 

KSrelief’s Role in Humanitarian Aid

KSrelief is a Saudi Arabian aid agency that plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian assistance to those affected by crises and disasters around the world. The agency focuses on providing relief services, including food, shelter, healthcare, and education, to vulnerable populations. KSrelief works in collaboration with international organizations and governments to ensure effective and efficient delivery of aid to those in need.

UN’s Role in Humanitarian Aid

Dr. Aqeel bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, the Assistant Supervisor General for Planning and Development at KSrelief, met with Lisa Doughten, the Director of Humanitarian Financing and Resource Mobilization at OCHA. They discussed various topics, including humanitarian financing, resource mobilization, and the voluntary return of Somali refugees.

During the meeting, Lisa Doughten praised KSrelief for its efforts in supporting the UN and aid agencies around the world. She acknowledged the importance of collaboration between KSrelief and the UN in addressing humanitarian challenges and expressed her appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance.

Discussion on Humanitarian Financing and Resource Mobilization

One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was humanitarian financing and resource mobilization. Both KSrelief and the UN recognized the importance of adequate funding for humanitarian operations to ensure the provision of essential services to those in need. KSrelief’s Assistant General Supervisor, Ahmed Al-Baiz, held a meeting with representatives of the UN International Organization for Migration office in Somalia to discuss ways to support the voluntary return of Somali refugees and provide them with necessary assistance. The officials explored joint programs and initiatives to facilitate the safe and dignified return of refugees to their home country.
