KSrelief General Supervisor Meets UN Representative Virginia Gamba in Riyadh
In a recent encounter, a significant official from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Assistant General Supervisor Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, met with the UN Secretary-General Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba.
The meeting took place at KSrelief’s headquarters in Riyadh, shedding light on Saudi Arabia’s continual humanitarian outreach, especially towards children impacted by armed conflicts.
KSrelief, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, was established by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2015 under the supervision of Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah. The inception of KSrelief was a part of Saudi Arabia’s endeavors to mitigate the hardships of needy individuals globally.
The center not only symbolizes Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian commitment but also its operational transparency in delivering aid to the distressed irrespective of geographical, racial, or ethnic differences.
Humanitarian Outreach
The interaction between KSrelief and the UN representative wasn’t solely confined to discussions. KSrelief has been actively engaged in humanitarian projects across various countries.
For instance, they recently implemented a volunteer medical project for obstetrics and gynecology surgery in Mauritania, distributed winter bags to flood-affected individuals in Pakistan, and funded an ambulance service in Lebanon.
These efforts delineate KSrelief’s broad spectrum of humanitarian outreach, transcending beyond mere dialogues to tangible actions on the ground.
Virginia Gamba: A Dedicated UN Representative
Virginia Gamba, with a rich tapestry of experience in disarmament and conflict resolution, is the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict.
Appointed in April 2017, Gamba has been at the forefront in addressing the adversities faced by children in conflict zones.
Her comprehensive career spanning various pivotal roles, including her directorial positions at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons – United Nations Joint Investigative Mechanism, demonstrates her unwavering commitment to fostering a safer world for children.
Her recent interaction with KSrelief further underscores the global cooperative efforts in ameliorating the conditions of children affected by armed conflicts.
Furthermore, the meeting between KSrelief’s Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz and the UN’s Virginia Gamba epitomizes the collaborative spirit between national humanitarian agencies and global organizations like the UN.
It’s a testament to the collective endeavors aimed at improving the living conditions of children caught in the throes of armed conflicts, emphasizing the importance of cohesive actions in humanitarian outreach.
