KSRelief Center Removes 784 Mines in Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center “Masam” project removed 784 mines in various regions of Yemen during the first week of February.

The Masam team was able to remove 181 unexploded ordnance in Aden Governorate and in Hodeidah Governorate. In addition, the team removed 52 unexploded ordnance and 27 explosive devices in Al-Khawkhah District.

The team in Ma’rib managed  to remove one anti-tank mine in Al-Wadi District, 120 anti-tank mines and 370 unexploded ordnance.

 

Mines in Yemen

Despite these efforts, the scale of the landmine problem in Yemen remains significant, and there is a need for increased support and resources to effectively address this issue.

In addition to clearance and risk education, efforts to address the landmine issue in Yemen should also include measures to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of landmine victims. This can involve providing medical care, psychosocial support, and economic assistance to individuals and communities affected by landmines.

Ultimately, the presence of landmines in Yemen is a humanitarian crisis that requires urgent attention and action.
