Mines in Yemen
Yemen, a country located in the Middle East, is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. However, it is also home to a significant number of landmines, which pose a serious threat to the safety and well-being of its people.
As a result of ongoing civil war, which has been raging since 2014, landmine problem in Yemen increased rapidly.
The Yemen Mine Action Center (YEMAC) is a government body responsible for coordinating mine action activities in the country. In addition, it works in collaboration with international partners to conduct mine clearance operations.
Despite these efforts, the scale of the landmine problem in Yemen remains significant, and there is a need for increased support and resources to effectively address this issue.
Human Crisis
In addition to clearance and risk education, efforts to address the landmine issue in Yemen should also include measures to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of landmine victims. This can involve providing medical care, psychosocial support, and economic assistance to individuals and communities affected by landmines.
