Saudi Arabia, the US called for intensifying diplomatic efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis, and stressed the importance of the Houthis’ participation in good faith in political negotiations with the legitimate government under the supervision of the UN.
This came during Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, on Monday evening, with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, where they discussed strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields, in addition to regional and related issues.
On the Yemeni issue, the Crown Prince affirmed the Saudi initiative to end the Yemeni crisis, which includes a comprehensive ceasefire under the supervision of the United Nations, support for the United Nations proposal to allow the entry of oil derivatives ships to the port of Hodeidah, and the opening of Sana’a International Airport for flights to and from selected stations.
Sullivan affirmed the strategic partnership between the two countries and the full commitment of the US to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s defense of its territory against all threats, including Iranian-backed missile and drone attacks.
The US fully supports these proposals and the efforts of the UN to reach a political solution to the crisis.
