The Ministries of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia (KSA)will announce soon decisions that will create more than 16,000 jobs for Saudi men and women in the engineering sector, reported Al Arabiya.
They will also announce signing agreements with a number of private sector entities. These two steps are parts of the implementation of government decisions related to the localization of engineering professions.
According to data from the Saudi Council of Engineers, the number of engineers, technicians, and specialists registered with it reached 448,528 members.
The number of engineering companies and offices reached 4,390 including 3,267 engineering offices and 1,123 engineering companies.
Saudis make up 34.17% of the total number of engineers and technicians registered with the Council.
Females present 3.19% of the total number of engineers and technicians while males are 96.81%.
According to the source, the decisions are expected to provide quality job opportunities for national talents in KSA and increase their participation in the labor market by providing more than 8,000 jobs in engineering professions The localization rate is 25% for establishments that have five or more engineers.
Additionally, the decisions will provide more than 8,000 other jobs for technical engineering professions, with a localization rate of 30% for establishments that have five or more technicians.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development had previously issued a decision. This decision requires the localization of 20% of the total number of workers in engineering professions in private sector establishments that employ five or more engineers.
