KSA to become a world leader in crowd management

According to Sadi agency SPA, Saudi Arabia has become a world leader in crowd management due to its performs for Hajj rituals every year, despite the reduced numbers this season that take into account the current preventive measures.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched its operational plan for the Hajj season this year, including a package of services that support electronic applications and technical works. That plan makes the pilgrim’s journey easy and accessible and contributes to smooth procedures and speedy completion with high accuracy.

Pilgrims’ transportation areas

According to SPA, the ministry has completed the covering of transporting pilgrim’s areas. It established urgent projects for transportation by frequent flights, establishing systems and techniques for monitoring and follow-up spatial databases.

It has also developed models in transportation systems for pilgrims, electronic integration with the Transportation Information Center, and the mechanism of private transportation contracts.

Transformation into joint-stock companies

The ministry enabled Arbab Al Tawafa to transform into joint-stock companies and move from serving the pilgrims to a specialized industry provided with all professionalism.

Health and safety first

Saudi Arabia has limited the number of pilgrims to 60.000 due to Corona precautions. This is the second year in a row that the number of pilgrims in the Kingdom has been reduced. The nature of the crowds in the Hajj obligation makes the application of the highest precaution degree extremely important.

Electronic track

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched the electronic path for domestic pilgrims to book and purchase packages for Hajj season 2021. It had developed the “Smart Hajj” card to link operations and services, which won the Mecca Excellence Award in its 12th session.

The Hajj smart card works using NFC technology and can be read through self-service devices available in the holy sites. The card includes many features, such as guiding pilgrims to their accommodation in the sacred sites, controlling access to various facilities, and limiting irregular Hajj.

Among the technical projects employed by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is the electronic bracelet, which shows the pilgrim’s identity and all his official data.

Digital transformation

As part of its digital transformation strategy, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah worked to benefit from the implemented technical projects in providing high-quality services to pilgrims to facilitate the performance of the Hajj rituals.

In this regard, the ministry launched the “Smart Hajj Platform” and the “Service Monitoring” initiative to raise the level of housing services with the aim of providing additional spaces for pilgrims and regulating frequency transmission paths.

It launched the “Tafweej” program dedicated to crowd management through an electronic system to prepare and monitor the grouping plan and build camps equipped with various services.
