King Salman Park: Unique Destination to foster Saudi productivity & creativity

The King Salman Park project is one of the four major Riyadh projects that were launched on March 19, 2019, and raised Riyadh’s global ranking.

 

King Salman Park aims to provide various sports, cultural, artistic, and entertainment options for residents and visitors of Riyadh. It also aims to contribute to improving the quality of life in the city in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 for a vibrant and healthy society.

 

The largest city park in the world

 

King Salman Park is located in an area of more than 16 square kilometers and is the largest city park in the world.

 

It offers a wide range of quality options and activities for the city’s residents and visitors, including extended green areas with more than a million trees, in addition to the “Wadi” area in the middle of the garden and a group of water elements, monuments, and artistic icons.

 

The garden plays a major role in increasing vegetation cover in the region and raising the per capita rate of green spaces. This is reflected directly and positively in the quality of the environment and climate.

 

 Privileged and central location

 

King Salman Park is characterized by a pivotal location in Riyadh, linked to several of its main roads and arteries.

 

It is linked to the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project through 5 stations on the green track of the Riyadh Metro, and 10 stations on the Riyadh Bus Network. This makes it easily accessible.

 

Elements of the King Salman Park project

Environmental elements

There are many green areas in the park and open spaces of more than 9.3 million square meters. These include an Islamic garden, vertical gardens, an agricultural labyrinth garden, and a bird and butterfly sanctuary.

 

The park also contains various gardens covering an area of 400,000 square meters, a circular path for pedestrians with a length of 7.2 km, a valley area on an area of 800,000 square meters, and various water elements on an area of 300,000 square meters.

 

The Royal Art Complex is built on more than 400,000 square meters. It includes the National Theater with a capacity of 2,500 seats, 5 closed theaters of various sizes, and an outdoor theater that accommodates 8,000 spectators.

 

-There is also a cinema complex with 3 halls, 4 art academies, and an educational center for developing children’s talents.

 

Cultural facilities

 

The cultural facilities in King Salman Park include 7 various museums; the Aviation Museum, the Astronomy and Space Museum, Botanical Museum, Science Museum, Architecture Museum, and the Virtual Reality Museum.

 

The park includes arenas for celebrations on an area of 40,000 square meters and artistic landmarks and icons.

 

Sports facilities include – The Royal Golf Course on an area of 850,000 square meters. – A sports complex on an area of 50,000 square meters. – Virtual reality courts. – Skydiving and ballooning center. – An equestrian center.

 

Recreational facilities, including a 100,000 square meter recreational play area. – 140,000 square meter Water Park. – A family entertainment center, and a viewing tower and bridge.

 

Visitor center

There is also an environmental and cultural induction center on an area of 80,000 square meters. It includes interactive exhibits about the garden, multi-purpose halls, a meeting room, an area dedicated to tree and plant nurseries, and food and beverage outlets.

 

There are many residential and hotel facilities, including residential building complexes with 12,000 housing units, 16 hotels with a total of 2,300 hotel units, commercial spaces for restaurants, cafes, and a retail sector of more than 500,000 square meters. – Office building complexes with an area of 600,000 square meters.

 

Public Facilities & Services

The public facilities and services included in King Salman Park are mosques, security, health, educational and social centers. In addition to this, there are many public libraries, parking buildings with a total area of 280 thousand square meters, and main and local roads and pedestrian paths.
