King Salman Medical City Performs 1st Successful Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery

A specialized orthopedic and joint surgery team at King Salman bin Abdulaziz Medical City in Medina successfully performed a robotic-assisted knee joint replacement on a Saudi woman in her seventies. This was the first surgery of its kind using robotic technology in the health cluster hospitals.

The team indicated that after completing the necessary medical examinations, the doctors decided to perform a knee joint replacement surgery using robotic technology, which was successful. Her condition improved, and she left the hospital in good health after completing her treatment program.

The team also explained that the use of robotic systems in joint replacement surgery represents a major advance in orthopedic surgery procedures, and this system enhances the accuracy of bone alignment and implant placement. Additionally, this leads to improved surgical outcomes and reduced recovery times for patients.
