King Faisal Center Launches UNESCO Chair for Culture Translation

The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies inaugurated the “UNESCO Chair for the Translation of Cultures,” supported by the Saudi Authority for Literature, Publishing, and Translation. Its goal is to promote research, partnerships, and cultural dialogues by translating texts and bridging civilizations.

The CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Authority, Dr. Muhammad Alwan, expressed the Authority’s delight in the launch of the UNESCO Chair for Cultural Translation. He also highlighted that this achievement aligns with the cultural goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and fosters international collaboration in research and development.

Alwan stated that this chair offers a valuable opportunity to better understand the Kingdom’s rich heritage and share it worldwide. Moreover, he added that the idea for the UNESCO Chair for Translation of Cultures reflects the Ministry of Culture’s commitment, under  Prince Badr bin Farhan, to the importance of scientific research in shaping a dynamic cultural future for the Kingdom.

The Authority’s CEO concluded his speech by saying that the chair will also provide solid scientific contributions in the field of cultural translation, and will be a pioneering platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge between researchers from different parts of the world.

Finally, the UNESCO Chair in Translation of Cultures focuses on specialized research in the humanities, social sciences, inclusive education, and cultural diversity. It promotes partnerships between academic representatives to advance research. It also offers scholarships, organizes seminars, and enhances academic theses to develop the concept of Arab culture and diversity.
