The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has signed promising partnerships with local and international organizations and companies, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
As part of KACST’s participation at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2025, the deals basically aim at boosting innovation and elevating mining technologies.
KACST Vice President for Energy and Industry Sector Dr. Saeed Al-Shehri noted that in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, the mining sector has become a crucial component of the Kingdom’s economic diversity strategy.
Currently, the Kingdom’s mineral reserves have recorded nearly $2.5 trillion. Therefore, it marks a noticeable increase of 90% from the previous estimate of $1.3 trillion.
Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in Riyadh, the FMF 2025 sought to explore several opportunities and address the challenges in the mining and minerals sectors at both regional and international levels.
During the forum, the KACST forged several partnerships with prestigious entities, as follows:
- Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources
- National Industrial Development and Logistics Program
- Saudi Geological Survey
- Neoleap Company
- Saudi Mining Services Company (ESNAD)
The deals seek to establish a mining innovation studio to capture global talent and develop modern technologies.
As for mining technology exploration, the KACST has collaborated with the Canadian Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation to improve emerging technologies in advanced metal processing, intelligent metal exploration, mining safety, as well as sustainability technologies.
