Jordan’s PM Condemns Opportunism, Pledges to Safeguard Nation

Jordan’s Prime Minister Jafar Hassan warned on Tuesday against “political opportunism” and activities endangering public safety. Speaking at a Cabinet meeting in Ajloun, he stressed that Jordan’s sovereignty remains non-negotiable.

“No entity can challenge the state through populist tactics or risk public welfare,” Hassan declared, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra). He emphasized unwavering loyalty to Jordan, stating, “No external allegiances or destabilizing forces will hinder national progress.”

Crackdown on Security Threats

The remarks followed recent security operations thwarting alleged plots against Jordan’s stability. Authorities arrested 16 suspects linked to chaos plans and confiscated missiles, explosives, and firearms. Hassan affirmed such efforts protect constitutional legitimacy, adding, “State institutions and the judiciary alone hold authority.”

“Jordan’s interests transcend all agendas,” Hassan asserted, cautioning that compromising national unity directly opposes citizens’ welfare and the kingdom’s resilience. The Prime Minister reiterated zero tolerance for subversion, urging collective vigilance to safeguard Jordan’s future.

Hassan’s warnings underscore Jordan’s commitment to security and stability. The country will not tolerate any threats to its national interests.
