Jordanian King at Arab Summit 2024: Gaza War Puts International Conventions at Stake

The Jordanian King Abdullah II stated during the 33rd Arab Summit that the Gaza War has put all international conventions and covenants at stake.

Abdullah II delved into the devastating situation in Gaza confirming the serious consequences on the generation that have experienced injustice, genocide, murder, starvation, and bombardment.

“The situation in Gaza will not give the region and the world stability, but rather will bring more violence and conflict,” Abdullah II added.

The Palestinian cause is the primary focus of the 33rd Arab Summit, held today in the Bahraini capital, Manama. The Arab Leaders have called on the international community to put an end to the unbearable circumstance in Gaza under the Israeli aggression.

The Jordanian King stressed that the world should bear its moral and humanitarian responsibility to end the conflict that has been going on for more than seven decades.”

Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity to constantly support UNRWA in carrying out its humanitarian role in the Strip.

The King has flatly refused the displacement of the Palestinians from their own lands and the separation between the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

He emphasized the dire need to stop the escalation in the West Bank caused by “the unilateral Israeli measures,” confirming their commitment to keeping “the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.”

Abdullah II concluded: “We should strengthen our Arab coordination to address the challenges facing our countries and ensure respect for the policy of good neighborliness and non-interference in Arab affairs.”

It is noteworthy that this is the first time for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the Arab Summit. The Bahraini government has ramped up preparations to ensure the success of the summit presided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The preparatory committee, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, has held various meetings and round the clock field follow-ups to demonstrate Bahrain’s approach to  Arab unity and joint action.

Moreover, the summit’s media centre has conducted its preparations to facilitate the work of media professionals, by providing them with all necessary logistical and technical services.
