The third edition of the Japanese cultural festival “Hayy Matsuri” kicked off on Thursday at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah, bringing a vibrant program for visitors, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The three‑day program is shaped by the Japanese philosophy of Shu Ha Ri—a journey that starts with imitation, advances through refinement, and culminates in innovation and creation.
Running through January 10, Hayy Matsuri seeks to deepen cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and Japan, highlighting the arts as both a bridge of human connection and a platform for strengthening mutual understanding.

By blending Japanese traditions with contemporary creativity, Hayy Matsuri delivers a rich cultural tapestry through a dynamic program of musical performances, live demonstrations, an expanded film lineup at Hayy Cinema, and interactive experiences crafted for audiences of all ages.
The festival features a vast array of events, including anime and manga showcases, cultural competitions, games, handicraft workshops alongside activities in visual culture, poetry, and design, capped by live performances that celebrate Japan’s artistic traditions and heritage practices.

Visitors can also enjoy Japanese cuisine as this year’s edition brings back the open market, showcasing Japanese culture‑inspired products as well as authentic food and beverages.
Hayy Matsuri’s third edition represents part of Hayy Jameel’s broader cultural model, designed to enhance mutual understanding and build bridges of artistic exchange across communities.
