Israel has expressed willingness to negotiate a deal with Hamas that includes ending the fighting in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that talks are ongoing in Doha to explore all possibilities for peace. The negotiations aim to achieve a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages, and disarm Hamas, according to official sources.
Despite Israel’s expanding military operations targeting objectives such as releasing hostages and defeating Hamas, indirect talks are underway. Hamas officials confirmed negotiations involving possible ceasefire agreements facilitated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. However, major disagreements remain, especially regarding Hamas’s weapons and the group’s political stance.
A senior Hamas official indicated that both sides exchange views with flexibility to bridge differences. Meanwhile, on the ground, civilian casualties increased as Israel continues conducting air strikes across Gaza. More than 100 Palestinians were wounded in a recent attack near Al-Mawasi, with 22 reported dead.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The ongoing conflict has severely worsened Gaza’s humanitarian conditions. Hospitals, including the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, face closures due to Israeli blockades disrupting aid delivery. The Gaza health ministry reports over 3,193 Palestinians killed since 18 March, and many hospitals are now out of service.
Global leaders, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, called for an immediate, permanent ceasefire during the Arab League summit. The international community urges Israel and Hamas to end hostilities swiftly and allow aid access to Gaza’s besieged population.
In Israel, protests erupted against Netanyahu’s government, demanding a deal to free remaining hostages. Critics accuse the government of prolonging the conflict, risking more lives, and worsening the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
As hopes for negotiations grow, the international community continues to press for peace, humanitarian aid, and the protection of civilians amid ongoing violence. Both sides face substantial challenges before any lasting solution can be reached.
