Barrages of Iranian missiles are heading toward Israel in retaliation for Saturday’s strikes that hit several cities in Iran.
The Israeli military said it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israel. “Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” it said in a statement.
An Iranian official told Reuters that Iran was preparing for a “crushing” response in retaliation for the Israeli attack, without giving details about the potential targets.
Furthermore, Iran’s state television said that Iran’s armed forces were getting ready to retaliate against Israel.
Israel, for its part, is bracing for an Iranian response. Several Israeli hospitals said they were preparing to move patients to fortified shelters or underground shelters. The Israeli health ministry also said it had ordered medical centers to discharge those who do not need immediate hospitalization.
On Saturday morning, Israel and the US launched a joint military attack on Iran. The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said the attack aims to “remove threats” from Iran to Israel.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the US is carrying out a “massive and ongoing operation” in Iran to destroy their missiles, annihilate their navy, and ensure their regional terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region.
He also called on the Iranian people to take over their government once the US operations end.
In June 2025, the US joined Israel in its 12-day war against Iran, bombing Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan, in an attempt to destroy Iran’s infrastructure for enriching uranium.
