Iranian Foreign Ministry has criticized US President Donald Trump’s call for dialogue, accusing the US of engaging in “hostile and criminal behavior” following his remarks to the Knesset, where he expressed readiness to reach a deal with Tehran, according to Reuters.
Iran and the US held five rounds of nuclear talks before Israel targeted Iranian nuclear facilities on June 13.
However, these talks faced key stumbling blocks such as uranium enrichment on Iranian soil, a step met with utter rejection by European powers which claimed that Tehran is enriching uranium for unpeaceful purposes.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that his country would welcome a potential “fair and balanced” nuclear proposal from the United States but has not yet received any offer for negotiations.
“If we receive a reasonable, balanced, and fair proposal from the Americans for negotiations, we will certainly consider it,” Araqchi told state television.
He underscored that Tehran would never abandon its “right to enrich uranium.”
However, Tehran is ready to take confidence-building measures concerning “the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.”
The European powers, the US and Israel accuse Tehran of using its nuclear program to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran has denied this accusation and said that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
On September 28, the E3_ Britain, France, and Germany- reimposed sanctions on Tehran after they claimed that Iran has violated a 2015 deal that aimed at halting it from developing a nuclear weapon.
