Int’l Women’s Day 2025: More Saudi Women Assume Leadership Roles

As the world observes the International Women’s Day 2025, Saudi Arabia celebrates remarkable milestones in empowering women and increasing their roles in all aspects of life, under the transformative Vision 2030.

On this occasion, the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) highlighted the role of women in shaping the Kingdom’s future through their increased participation in the labor force and leadership positions.

According to GASTAT’s recent data, Saudi women have assumed more roles in the workforce, leadership positions, and entrepreneurship.

The data shows that the total number of women in Saudi Arabia is 9.8 million. As of the third quarter of 2024, 36.2% of Saudi women participated in the labor force. Meanwhile, the employment-to-population ratio for Saudi women stood at 31.3% during the same period.

Moreover, the data shows that the number of Saudi women holding senior management positions in 2024 reached 78,356, while the number of Saudi women working in tourism-related activities surged to 111,259.

In 2023, the number of Saudi women who registered businesses was 551,318. Furthermore, 449,725 Saudi women obtained freelance work permits during the same year, according to GASTAT data.

The world marks the International Women’s Day on March 8 of each year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women across the globe. It aims to recognize women’s contributions in various fields, address gender inequality issues, mobilize action for a more equitable and inclusive world for women, and foster solidarity among people in support of women’s rights worldwide.
