Health Transformation Highlights Efforts of Agencies in 2024

The Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the initiatives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, announced the most significant transformative achievements that marked the culmination of national health efforts in the health sector during 2024 which has reached its end.

Sehati App
The key figures highlight the use of technology to enhance human health, with the number of immediate and virtual consultation appointments through the “Sehati” app exceeding 51 million appointments. Additionally, over 30 million beneficiaries were connected to the unified health file, while more than 14 million benefited from the “Wasfati” app, with over 40 million prescriptions issued by the end of 2024.

In line with its goal to enhance health risk prevention, one of the key objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, efforts were made to improve early detection. This led to over 480,000 beneficiaries for early diabetes detection, over 130,000 cases for breast cancer detection, and more than 120,000 cases for early detection of colon and rectal cancer.
Shifa Platform
To further strengthen community contributions, the number of health volunteers reached more than 632,000 since the establishment of the center, while the charitable contributions continued with over 8,000 beneficiaries in the “Shifa” platform.

One of the most notable achievements is the increase in the average life expectancy which rose from 74 in 2016 to 78.8. Additionally, the percentage of regions in the Kingdom, including remote areas, covered by healthcare services reached 96%, compared to 81% in 2016. The traffic accident mortality rate also decreased from 28.8 per 100,000 people in 2016 to 13.06 per 100,000 people.
King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Research Center
As part of the Kingdom’s regional and global leadership, particularly in the healthcare sector, a national achievement was realized by the elite team at “King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center” through the world’s first complete robotic organ transplant. They also conducted the first-ever robotic liver transplant. Furthermore, Saudi hospitals are leading the Middle East and Africa, and “Sehha” virtual hospital entered the Guinness World Records as the largest hospital in the world. The Kingdom also ranked first regionally for having 16 health cities that met 80 health standards according to the World Health Organization.

It is worth mentioning that the efforts of health authorities and distinguished staff during the year 2024 were a continuation of the relentless work on health transformation, and a result of the comprehensive development that the Kingdom has enjoyed in various sectors since the launch of Vision 2030. These efforts reflect the aspirations of an inspiring vision that set noble goals towards achieving a vibrant society and a prosperous, healthy life.
