Hajj 2024: Indonesian Ambassador Hails Makkah Route Initiative

The Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmad has praised the Saudi leadership’s efforts to provide the pilgrims with seamless and smooth journey through Makkah Route Initiative, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Ahmad expressed his sincere appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continuous efforts to efficiently facilitate all Hajj procedures.

The Indonesian pilgrims departing from Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia have commended the Makkah Route Initiative’s services, which include assistance with check-in procedures at 12 dedicated counters in the airport, ensuring that all health requirements are met, and organizing delivery of their luggage to their accommodation in the Kingdom.

They have further expressed their gratitude to the Saudi authorities for their generosity and warm welcome in the airport.

Makkah Route Initiative

The first Makkah Route Initiative flight from Indonesia departed from Juanda International Airport on May 12, carrying approximately 300 pilgrims.

According to the initiative, pilgrims can complete all necessary procedures, including electronic visa issuance, biometric data collection, and airport departure checks in their home country.

Launched in 2017 as part of Vision 2030, the initiative marked a revolutionary program aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience for guests of Allah from Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Bangladesh, Turkey, and the Ivory Coast.

The initiative has served 617,756 pilgrims in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Information, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and the Guests of God Service Program.
