Aims of Saudi Media Forum’s Visit

The visit aims to acquaint the guests with the landmarks of the Kingdom in general, and AlUla in particular, given its rich historical and cultural heritage, which has made it a focal point for visitors from various countries around the world.

Protecting AlUla

The American artist David Popa chose one of the archaeological sites in Al-Hijr, AlUla to present a stunning artwork on protecting AlUla heritage as well as heritage around the whole world.

Clossal Expressive Artwork

In AlUla, two hands appear emerging from the sand and surrounding Tomb of Lihyan, Son of Kuza.

Designed to fade away in a matter of weeks, it underscores the urgency of protecting the historical places. Adding to the theme of protecting the heritage, Popa was keen to use environmentally friendly natural pigments, such as red and yellow soil, which decompose over time and leave no trace.

Embraced with the two earthy protective hands, the stone reserved its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list in the Kingdom. Moreover, there are Arabic decorations on the sleeves blending with the surrounding environment.
