Greece sends missile system to Saudi Arabia

Konstantinos Floros, the Greek Chief of Staff, declared that his country will provide the Patriot missile system to Saudi Arabia.

This coincided with the withdrawal of missile systems, equipment, and soldiers from the Kingdom the United States.

The Greek Chief of Staff published, through his Twitter account, pictures of the farewell ceremony of the system and limited Greek forces affiliated with the 114th Combat Wing, apparently operating them.

“The mission of the system sent to Saudi Arabia will work to maintain peace and stability, especially in the Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean,” Floros said.

Greece provides Saudi Arabia with the Patriot system on loan under an agreement signed between the two countries last April.

US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, directed the US Army Central Command, which oversees the region, to withdraw this equipment and elements, starting from the summer.

Saudi Cabinet approved the establishment of the General Authority for Defense Development, whose mission is research and development in the fields of technology and defense systems.
