General Entertainment Authority Reports Record 16 Million Visitors in Q2
The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) reported that over 16 million visitors attended events during Q2 of 2024. This represents a 130% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw 7 million visitors to Saudi Arabia.
The total number of licenses issued reached 1,529, marking a 7.3% increase from Q2 2023, when 1,425 licenses were issued. The most common licenses were for live shows in restaurants and cafes, with 523 licenses. Entertainment events followed with 433 licenses, and entertainment shows with 322 licenses. Additionally, 93 licenses were issued for entertainment cities, and 60 for crowd organization and management.
Expansion of Entertainment Destinations
The GEA report highlighted that the number of licensed entertainment destinations reached 97 in Q2 2024. The number of field visits for oversight increased by 301% compared to Q2 2023. In Q2 2024, there were 20,880 field visits, up from 5,200 visits during the same period last year.

Types of Licenses Issued by GEA
The General Entertainment Authority issues licenses for entertainment centers, operating facilities, and selling tickets for activities. It also accredits and manages artistic entertainment talents, organizes and manages crowds, and issues permits for entertainment events and live shows in restaurants and cafes. Additionally, licenses are available for entertainment cities.
