GCC-US Summit: Saudi Crown Prince Supports Peaceful Solutions to Conflicts
Upon the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Riyadh on Wednesday hosted the GCC-US Summit, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The summit was co-chaired by the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, and the US President, Donald Trump, with the participation of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
GCC-US Summit
During his opening speech, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reaffirmed the depth of relations between the GCC countries and the US, adding that the summit “underscores our commitment to collective action in strengthening relations, expanding strategic partnerships, and fulfilling the aspirations of our nations and peoples.”
In this context, he pointed to the robust economic partnerships and trade cooperation between the GCC and the US, with a trade volume reaching approximately $120 billion in 2024.
He added that the GCC-US Summit underscores the commitment to continued cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues in order to establish peace, security and stability across the region and the world.
Addressing Regional Issues
In recognition of the major challenges facing the region, Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries aim to collaborate with the US to “de-escalate tensions in the region,” the Saudi Crown Prince said.
This collaboration aims to “end the war in Gaza, and seek a lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions,” the Crown Prince added.
“We stress our support for ending conflicts through peaceful means,” he said.
With regards to this, the Saudi Crown Prince reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering dialogue among Yemeni parties to reach a comprehensive political solution.
Moreover, he said that Saudi Arabia will continue its efforts to end the crisis in Sudan through the Saudi-US-sponsored Jeddah Declaration.
Lifting Syria’s Sanctions
The Saudi Crown Prince also emphasized the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and supporting the Syrian government efforts to achieve security and stability.
In the light of this, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria. “This decision will alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and pave the way for a new chapter of growth and prosperity,” the Crown Prince said.
Similarly, the Saudi Crown Prince emphasized support for the efforts made by Lebanon’s President and government aimed at reforming institutions, restricting weapons to state authority, and safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
International Issues
On the international level, the Saudi Crown Prince welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, hoping it will de-escalate tensions and restore calm between both countries.
He also confirmed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to continue peace efforts to reach a political solution for the crisis in Ukraine, hailing Trump’s efforts to end this conflict.
