The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on Wednesday concluded the 46th session of the Supreme Council, held in Al Sakhir, Bahrain.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, arrived in Bahrain to spearhead the Kingdom’s participation in the 46th GCC Summit, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Crown Prince will also co-chair the fourth meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the summit.
Commitment to Gulf Unity
In the Summit’s final statement, known as Sakhir Declaration, the GCC leaders underscored their commitment to solidifying unity, coordination and integration among the GCC States across all fields to advance their mutual interests and strengthen security, peace and prosperity in the entire region and the world.
They also stressed that the security and stability of GCC States are indivisible, stating that any infringement upon the sovereignty of a member state constitutes a “direct threat” to their collective security.
Backing Gaza Peace Agreement
On the regional level, the leaders welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm Al-Sheikh Peace Summit, which saw the signing of the Gaza peace agreement, emphasizing their support for regional and international efforts to ensure the full adherence to the terms of the agreement and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.
Moreover, they reiterated support for efforts aimed at advancing the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and international legitimacy.
Economic Development
In terms of economy, the Gulf leaders emphasized the importance of advancing progress in economic development and technological and scientific advancement.

In the light of this, they called for completing the requirements of the GCC Common Market and Customs Union, boosting digital infrastructure integration, facilitating e-commerce, and adopting a joint strategy for AI and cybersecurity to ensure economic diversification and shared prosperity.
The leaders also affirmed commitment to environmental protection and addressing climate change by promoting clean and renewable energy projects, reducing carbon emissions, and preserving natural and marine resources.
International Partnerships
Furthermore, the GCC leaders called for bolstering international cooperation to safeguard regional security; deepening political, security, and economic partnerships with friendly countries and international organizations; and strengthening collaboration in areas of sustainable development and combating extremism and terrorism in all its forms.
The leaders also appreciated the participation of Italy‘s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in bilateral discussions, during which the two sides agreed to establish a joint action plan to forge a comprehensive strategic partnership aimed at enhancing their shared interests.
