Saudi Crown Prince, Italy’s Meloni Discuss Regional Developments

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, met on Wednesday with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in Manama, Bahrain, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

During their meeting, the Saudi Crown Prince and the Italian Prime Minister reviewed relations between the Kingdom and Italy. They also explored avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields.

Moreover, they discussed the latest regional and international developments and efforts made toward addressing them.

The meeting addressed key issues of common interest, such as the situation in the Middle East and the war in Sudan, reported the Italian news agency ANSA. Both leaders emphasized their desire to promote regional stability and peace.

Meloni, for her part, stressed the importance of continuing the political and economic implementation of the strategic partnership between Riyadh and Rome. She also extended an invitation to the Saudi Crown Prince to visit Italy.

Several senior Saudi officials attended the meeting, including the Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman; Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman; Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan; Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Advisor, Musaed Al-Aiban; and Investment Minister, Khalid Al-Falih.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council, held in Al Sukhair, Bahrain.

The Saudi Crown Prince has led the Kingdom’s delegation to the GCC Summit. Meanwhile, Meloni took part in the Summit as Italy was the guest of honor.

She expressed interest in deepening cooperation with the Gulf States, highlighting opportunities for potential energy cooperation and offering to host a summit gathering Mediterranean and Gulf states, according to Al-Arabiya.
