On the platform of the Global Health Forum 2023, the General Authority for Food and Drugs and the Ministry of Health signed a supplementary integration agreement aimed at fostering further mutual cooperation and experience sharing between the two entities.

Historical Context

Both parties recognize the importance of integrative and collaborative partnerships to govern their interactions, establish general frameworks, and delineate responsibilities.

Areas of Cooperation

The areas of cooperation encompass expertise sharing to serve mutual goals, data exchange, collaboration in monitoring mutually significant indicators, and ensuring ministries under their jurisdiction adhere to the electronic tracking system for medications named “Monitoring.” Moreover, they agreed on developing mechanisms for early monitoring of medicine and medical supplies shortage or unavailability.

Operational Mechanisms

The agreement outlines mechanisms for receiving reports and addressing them, technical integration in linking the beneficiary relations system between the contact centers of the Ministry and the Authority. This integration supports stakeholders’ decisions in monitoring availability in both private and public sectors.

Reporting, Monitoring

The “Authority” will receive reports from the Ministry regarding side effects, quality issues related to pharmaceutical products, and sensitivities arising from cosmetic products. Additionally, reports on incidents and problems with medical devices and supplies will be monitored through observed reports from beneficiaries.

The Ministry will also follow up on any safety alerts issued by the National Center for Medical Devices and Supplies Reports within the Authority, ensuring corrective measures are implemented among healthcare providers.

Performance Indicators

The “Authority” will provide the Ministry with feedback on healthcare establishments’ responses to its alerts, and establish performance indicators for each task to ensure the activation and continuity of performance by healthcare providers.

This structured approach aims at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare provision and ensuring a high standard of safety and quality in the healthcare sector.
