The FIFA inspection team arrived in the northwest of the Kingdom to explore potential venues for the 2034 World Cup matches which Saudi Arabia recently won the bid to host, reported Akhbar24.
However, the visit was not a typical reconnaissance mission. They examined the entire area to gauge its capacity to host large crowds of football fans, as hosting the 2034 World Cup will be the pinnacle of Saudi Arabia’s transformation program embodied in Vision 2030.
In this regard, the prestigious British newspaper The Guardian highlighted the Kingdom’s formidable potential that enables it to host this massive football event.
This includes a pivotal project to construct a high-quality sports area in the desert, stretching 105 miles long and 200 meters wide, accommodating 9 million people in the city of Neom.
It will contain many stadiums equipped with the latest technology for World Cup matches, making Neom one of the most important sports locations on the planet.
The newspaper pointed out that the expected advancements in construction technology would lead FIFA to sign off on the Kingdom’s offer by the end of 2024.
Since 2019, the giant city has hosted numerous international sporting events, including the international beach soccer championship. Several national teams participated in its three editions. Moreover, it hosted extreme sports events like rock climbing, wingsuit flying, and high-altitude jumping.
Neom’s Enchanting Nature
The newspaper also praised Neom’s enchanting nature, which could attract millions, especially after its success in hosting the World Cup. This would promote Saudi Arabia as a safe tourist destination. They will hear about its beauty from friends and relatives who will visit it for the first time to support their teams in the anticipated World Cup.
It seems that the Kingdom will make changes in the laws related to the crowds after this significant opening in recent years. The Kingdom aims to attract a broad segment of tourists to support the sector, a major pillar of the non-oil economy.
