Egypt’s Al Ahly Defeats Urawa to Clinch FIFA Club World Cup Bronze
Egyptian club Al Ahly secured the bronze medal at the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, triumphing over Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds with a 4-2 victory in the match for the third and fourth places, held in Saudi Arabia.
Accordingly, the Egyptian champions, earned their fourth bronze medal in the club’s history after a commendable performance against the Japanese champions.
Yasser Ibrahim, Percy Tau, and Ali Maâloul were among the scorers for Al Ahly, alongside an own goal by Kurozumo. Notably, Maâloul missed a penalty kick in the second half.
For Urawa Red Diamonds, Jose Conti and Alexander Scholz, the latter scoring from a penalty kick, registered their names on the score sheet.
Al Ahly lineup against Urawa featured Mohamed El Shenawy in goal.
The defense was composed of Ali Maâloul, Mohamed Abdel Monem, Yasser Ibrahim, and Mohamed Hani.
In midfield, Marwan Attia, Ahmed Nabil Koka, and Imam Ashour took charge.
The attack was led by Hussein El Shahat, Percy Tau, and Mahmoud Abdel Monem Kahraba.

Al Ahly missed the services of French striker Anthony Modeste against Urawa, due to a suspension from receiving a direct red card in the match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad.”
Al Ittihad Match
Notably, Egyptian club Al Ahly clinched a decisive 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabian team Al Ittihad in their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final match held in Jeddah.
Al Ahly’s Ali Maâloul opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 21st minute. In the other side Al Ittihad’s star Karim Benzema missed a penalty chance at the 45th minute mark.
