Al Ahly Overcomes Al Ittihad with 3-1 Victory in FIFA Club World Cup

Egyptian club Al Ahly clinched a decisive 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabian team Al Ittihad in their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final match held in Jeddah.

Al Ahly’s Ali Maâloul opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 21st minute. In the other side Al Ittihad’s star Karim Benzema missed a penalty chance at the 45th minute mark.

Hussein El Shahat then netted the second goal for Al Ahly in the 59th minute. It was followed by a fourth goal from Imam Ashour in the 62nd minute. Karim Benzema managed to score for Al Ittihad in the 90th minute.

Following this victory, Al Ahly has set a date to face Brazilian team Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals on the upcoming Monday.

Al Ittihad and Al Ahly’s Journey in the FIFA Club World Cup

The Saudi champion advanced to the second round of the Club World Cup after defeating New Zealand’s Auckland City with a three-goal margin in the opening match.

Egypt’s champion, Al Ahly, was exempted from the preliminary round due to the draw and entered the competition directly in the quarter-finals.
