Female Saudi Shoura Council Delegation Participates in G20 Women’s Meeting

The female Saudi Shoura Council delegation took part in the inaugural sessions of the G20 Women Parliamentarians held in Maceio, Brazil, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Represented by Mona bint Abdullah Al-Mushait and Alia bint Mohammed Al-Dahlawi, the delegation shed light on the women’s pivotal role in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s transformation journey and the national development.

“The transformation journey that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is undergoing, known as Saudi Vision 2030, has effectively contributed to creating various job opportunities, ensuring comprehensive economic growth and providing equal opportunities that will fulfill the prosperity of our country.” Al-Dahlawi said in her speech.

Al-Dahlawi added that women’s economic empowerment has witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, as the Saudi women’s participation in the labor market currently reached 35.3%.

Moreover, she stressed that women have become partners of Saudi national development due to the Kingdom’s great efforts to empower women in various areas including, technology, sports, engineering, commerce, justice, and many others.

The two-day meeting is part of the framework of Brazil’s presidency of the G20 for 2024.

It marked the participation of female parliamentarians from the legislative assemblies of G20 member states, along with representatives from international organizations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The attendees tackled various topics including the role of women in climate justice and sustainability.

Furthermore, they discussed the initiatives designed to boost women’s participation and economic empowerment.
