Exclusive – Egyptian Ambassador to Riyadh: July 23rd Revolution Liberated World from Colonialism
The Egyptian Embassy in Riyadh on Tuesday held a ceremony to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the 23rd of July revolution.
The ceremony was held at the Palace of Culture in the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh. Mayor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf attended the ceremony on behalf of Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.
The Egyptian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farouk Tawfiq, and several Egyptian officials warmly received Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz upon his arrival.
After playing the Egyptian national anthem, the Egyptian Ambassador thanked Prince Faisal for attending the event on behalf of the Kingdom.
In his speech, Farouk highlighted the developments of the well-established and distinctive relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which serve the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations and the region.
Several officials and diplomats from across the world, as well as the Egyptian community in Saudi Arabia, attended the ceremony. The event featured folklore shows and displayed artifacts that reflect Egypt’s heritage and culture. It received extensive media coverage.
Speaking to Leaders MENA Magazine, Ambassador Ahmed Farouk said that the 23rd of July revolution, which took place in 1952, was a turning point in the history of the third world countries.
“It inspired patriotism, raised awareness among peoples, especially in our region, and liberated the world from colonialism that had dominated the Arab region and other regions,” Farouk said.
