Date markets in Qassim Witness Mounting Demand
Date markets in the Qassim region and its provinces have witnessed noticeable demand from both citizens and residents, aiming to purchase the finest varieties of dates available, reported Saudi Press Agency.
The market offers large quantities of various types of dates, considering dates as essential components on the Iftar table during fasting. These commercial shops compete to provide all types of dates, such as Sukkari, Khlas, Rothana, Barhi, Sagai, and others.
Date Markets Buzzing with Shoppers
As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, markets and date shops in Medina are witnessing an increased influx of shoppers buying various types of Saudi dates, resulting in a boost in sales due to the abundance of date products. Saudi Press Agency’s camera, during its tour of the date shops in Medina today, observed active purchasing movements in the market.
Several workers in these shops explained that dates of all kinds are available in the market, with particular types, including Medina’s Ajwa, Sukkari, Khalas, and refrigerated Rutab Al-Rothana, attracting the most attention. Prices vary depending on the type and quality of the Saudi dates.
Volume of Saudi Dates Production and Value
Saudi Arabia produces more than 1.3 million tons of various dates in different regions, with 34 million productive palm trees spread over vast areas. Saudi regions host more than 10 date festivals from July to September each year.
Ajwa dates are one of the most important types of dates in the world due to their significant value among different types of dates. They are the only variety mentioned in the prophetic traditions and in several historical narrations. Ajwa dates are highly valued in the Islamic world due to prophetic narrations about them.
Ajwa dates, with their dark blackish red color, are of great nutritional value. They grow in one of the most mineral-rich soils, located amidst the lava fields of Medina. Therefore, it has various minerals and vitamins.
Al Madinah Heritage Company focuses on Ajwa and other Saudi dates. Therefore, it plans to open multiple sales outlets to market dates in different countries worldwide. This will help farmers sell their products through these outlets according to specific policies and mechanisms.
