Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Chairs Cabinet Session

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held in Riyadh today.

The Cabinet was briefed on the details of the phone calls made by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Cabinet also discussed the results of the second meeting of the Saudi-French Ministerial Committee and the ongoing efforts to enhance cultural, tourism, and economic partnerships between AlUla and Paris. This comes in light of the strong relations between the two friendly nations and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation across all sectors.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary announced that the Cabinet praised the outcomes of the second meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Political, Security, Social, and Cultural Cooperation. Moreover, this committee, formed under the Saudi-India Strategic Partnership Council, highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination on mutual concerns.

The Cabinet also assessed recent developments in regional and global affairs, with a particular emphasis on the situation in the Palestinian territories. It issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing attacks on civilians and humanitarian organizations by Israeli occupation forces, urging the international community to uphold its responsibilities in addressing the ongoing aggression faced by the Palestinian people.

The Cabinet reaffirmed its concern regarding extremist Israeli statements advocating for sovereignty over the West Bank, as well as the ongoing construction and expansion of settlements. It emphasized that such actions jeopardize peace efforts, threaten the security and stability of the region, and constitute a clear violation of international law and pertinent UN resolutions.

The Cabinet acknowledged the success of the “Cityscape Global 2024” exhibition in Riyadh, highlighting its alignment with national objectives and its promising impact on the real estate sector. Transactions at the exhibition exceeded SAR 230 billion, with sales from both local and international developers surpassing SAR 20 billion. Furthermore, the event drew over 172,000 visitors, emphasizing the Kingdom’s efforts to establish itself as a global hub for exhibitions and conferences.

 

The Cabinet expressed appreciation for the outcomes of the “Jeddah Declaration,” which was released during the Fourth High-Level Ministerial Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance. It lauded the initiatives and mechanisms that strengthen global efforts to address health challenges through a comprehensive approach, focusing on finding solutions via research, development, and innovation.

The Cabinet said that the Fourth Edition of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, to be held on December 3-4, 2024, will be geared toward expediting endeavors aimed at fostering a more sustainable future. Additionally, the initiative has had concrete positive effects on climate and environmental initiatives, helping boost the total capacity of renewable energy sources to over four gigawatts, planting about 95 million trees, and translocating 1,660 endangered animals across the Kingdom.

Cabinet tackled other items on its agenda, issued several decisions, among which  following:

 

  • Approval of the organizational arrangements for the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques.

 

  •  Approval of the minutes from the meeting discussing the establishment of the Saudi-Egyptian Supreme Coordination Council.

 

  • Approval of the headquarters agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the International Camel Organization.

 

  • Authorization for the Minister of Justice, or their representative, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.

 

  • Approval of the draft declaration of intent for cooperation in the field of critical minerals between the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, and authorization for the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, or their designated representative, to engage in discussions with the French side on this matter.

 

  • Approval of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the logistics sector between the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services and the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

 

  • Approval of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in promoting direct investment between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Benin.

  • Approval of a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the Saudi General Court of Audit and the Accounts Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic in the areas of accounting, auditing, and professional services.

The Cabinet reviewed several general topics listed on its agenda, including annual reports from the Saudi Water Authority, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the Human Rights Commission, the Saudi Space Agency, the Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for the Prevention of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases and their Control, the Family Affairs Council, and the Saudi Electronic University. The Cabinet took the necessary actions regarding these topics.
