Boosting Localization: Energy Minister Inaugurates New Factories

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman inaugurated two new energy factories in Riyadh Industrial City on Wednesday. The visit included tours of other facilities producing components for the energy sector, aligning with Vision 2030’s goal of achieving a 75% localization rate by 2030.

Accompanied by Minister Hamad Al-Sheikh and Minister Bandar Alkhorayef, Prince Abdulaziz reviewed the production of energy equipment and electrical panels. These components are crucial for connection, control, automation, and distribution in the energy industry.

Advanced Facilities and Workforce Development

The minister visited Al-Gihaz Holding Company’s factory, which specializes in energy equipment with a capacity of 25,000 units annually. This facility employs 500 engineers and staff, including 100 Saudi women, demonstrating commitment to workforce localization and gender inclusion.

Plans to double production capacity are in progress, supporting Vision 2030’s targets. The factory plays a key role in engineering, designing, and automating electricity network systems, including manufacturing control panels and voltage conversion equipment.

Green Technology and Renewable Energy Efforts

Prince Abdulaziz inaugurated Alfanar’s smart ring-connection units factory, the Middle East’s first sulfur hexafluoride-free facility. This factory, employing over 700 Saudi women, represents a breakthrough in green technology and reducing carbon emissions.

During the visit, the minister received a presentation on Alfanar’s advancements in medium-voltage green technology and its renewable energy projects. These include wind, solar, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon capture, and green hydrogen initiatives.

Strengthening Saudi Arabia’s Energy Future

The tour highlighted Alfanar’s role in enhancing local content and supporting the national economy. Its technological innovations ensure sustainable and advanced solutions for energy distribution, positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in the global energy sector.
