Saudi Arabia is hosting the Saudi International Handicrafts Week Exhibition (Banan 2024) to highlight traditional crafts and showcase the Kingdom’s authentic heritage, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Organized by the Saudi Heritage Commission, the second edition of Banan Exhibition holds a variety of events that aim to support and empower artisans, display their creativity and foster their talent. The Exhibition is taking place from November 23-29, 2024, at ROSHN Front in Riyadh.
Banan 2024 features a diverse range of pavilions and events designed to enrich the visitors’ experience. These include a Handicrafts Arts Village, a Live Craft Demonstrations Pavilion, a Crafts Exhibition, and a Craft Workshops Pavilion. Furthermore, they include a zone for interactive experiences, a platform for entrepreneurs and craft organizations, and a pavilion offering activities for children.
More than 500 Saudi artisans, as well as participants from 25 countries, are taking part in Banan 2024, making it a distinguished platform for celebrating traditional handicrafts. It also provides economic support for artisans, giving them a venue to market their products.
Therefore, the Heritage Commission has adopted the goal of raising awareness of the importance of handicrafts as part of the intangible cultural heritage, ensuring they continue and pass on from one generation to the other.
In the light of this, the Heritage Commission said that Banan 2024 underscores its commitment to developing the craft sector, in line with the objectives of the National Culture Strategy, part of Saudi Vision 2030. The Saudi International Handicrafts Week Exhibition aspires to be a unique cultural event that establishes the Kingdom’s global status in the field of handicrafts.
